LSU’s Fournette leads media days’ preseason All-SEC team
Freeze told reporters he inquired Thursday about a timetable for a resolution of the NCAA infractions case and could not get a concrete answer. He told me he’s working out. “Obviously, our response is out to the allegations”. And there’s where you want a quarterback to spend his time, and he is, and I think for a guy that’s throwing for 2600 yards, 19 touchdowns in two years is kind of a nice position to be in going into the season. “I am attached to my team”. LSU will be joined by Ole Miss and SC in the final session of interviews. “I don’t know that I personally have processed the emotion that I see when I – when our country is displayed as it is”, Miles said. Miles understands free time is a luxury once practice begins, “but I want to be part of whatever change that could be positive”. You know, do I drive it?
LSU tailback Leonard Fournette was the presumptive Heisman Trophy victor as a sophomore as he led the nation with 1,352 yards and an uncanny 193.1 a game at the time. “I am in a position to advise wisely”, he said. “They gonna look at that young player, there gonna want him to be somebody that is a role model that can put and point to, and I think they can have great impact as role models”. There’s insane things that happen. They’re obviously two of the best in the game, and both seem to have a great deal of respect for one another.
“With Katrina, we didn’t really get any help in New Orleans”, Fournette said. “Just keep your head on a swivel, man. The main thing is to keep prayed up each and every day”.
First-year South Carolina Coach Will Muschamp gave the media a gentle jab during his opening remarks Thursday.
Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason said he’s all for his players taking stands. “You guys have to pick it up in the fourth quarter”. But the Tigers have lost five consecutive games to Alabama and dropped at least three games in four straight seasons. From bald heads to familiar faces, Muschamp brought life to a exhausted Day 4 of SEC Media Days.
“What I’d like to do is have them, our guys, have a platform where they could affect change”, Miles said. Where am I – what is this throw? Having a good center of gravity so you don’t lean one way or another. “That’s a deciding factor in the whole season”. The artistic piece of being a quarterback is the style of throw and the style of throw is really where he’s at.
Defensive tackle D.J. Jones said he’s only seen a replay of the fourth-and-25 conversion twice. I wouldn’t want to represent it no other way. It was just the Lord was on their side. It’s inclusive. You reach for others. “In order to have confidence in yourself and team, you have to think you’re the best”.
LSU head coach Les Miles is in support of Fournette and his other players engaging in these kind of issues. Miles speaks from experience after breaking two toes in his right foot while catching for his daughter Macy this summer. Miles was not a man seemingly flustered by his team’s season and all the drama that surrounded it toward the end. “Anything you can do to help the world become a better place, I would love to do that”.
Miles has been encouraging him to lose some weight after Fournette gained 10 pounds during the early offseason, getting up to approximately 235. Now we’re heading into the season on a roll.
Kelly and Knight are the only current quarterbacks in college football to have beaten Alabama. Last season, he auctioned off a jersey to raise money for flood victims in SC.
“I stay inside”, he said. “I met some of my best friends in college”. “I black out sometimes”. “We got a taste of it a year ago, or thought we did when we were 7-0”. And for its worth, he answered the questions thoughtfully. We played well on special teams. “I have a lot of things that I’m not very good at, but that is not a temptation”. That falls on my shoulders.
