Brock Lesnar might have his win at UFC 200 taken away from him after the UFC were notified of a potential anti-doping violation.
Lesnar is scheduled to make his WWE in-ring return against Randy Orton at the SummerSlam pay-per-view, which is scheduled to take place on August 21st in Brooklyn, New York. It is important to note that, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full fair legal review process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed.
The 38-year-old native of Webster, South Dakota made a triumphant return to the Octagon after 5 years as he outclassed Mark Hunt in the co-headliner of UFC 200, winning a unanimous decision by scores of 29-27 on all 3 scorecards.
Lesnar issued a very brief statement on Friday evening to the Associated Press. Standard USADA protocol is to put a positive test through several layers of scrutiny before confirming the positive test result publicly, although one would think the preliminary result really ought to have come in earlier than a week after the fight.
Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has been notified of a potential violation of the promotion’s anti-doping policy from an out-of-competition drug test administered June 28.
Lesnar cut a mammoth figure compared to Hunt in the ring and used that physical advantage to manhandle him in the fight.
“I’ve been dealing with that my entire life”, Lesnar said on a media conference call days before UFC 200.
When asked about performance-enhancing drugs in the weeks before his comeback fight, Lesnar memorably said: “I’m a white boy and I’m jacked”.
“The cheaters get a slap on the wrist and walk off”, Hunt told MMA Fighting. There’s no penalties or deterrents to guys that are cheating.
“I’ve told Dana I want half of Brock’s purse”.
Lesnar provided the samples for the flagged test on June 28, just 12 days before he fought in his first UFC bout in nearly five years.
UFC isn’t the only company that’s paying attention to the Lesnar news.
