American Airlines flight from Dallas to Chicago evacuated by emergency slides

It was a rough afternoon for air travel at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport Thursday.

There were two different planes and two scary problems at Dallas/Fort Worth worldwide Airport Thursday and airline passengers were right in the middle of it. Inflatable slides at the passenger access door and a rear service door expedited the evacuation of all 141 passengers and the crew of five.

At least three people suffered minor injuries as a result, the airline said. An airport spokesperson did confirm that one person was taken to Baylor Hospital in Grapevine.

The incident occurred aboard one of American’s MD-80s, an aircraft the Morning News’ Terry Maxon said the airline plans to phase out by the end of 2017.

Another flight, this time Spirit Airlines, was evacuated when it experienced a fire in one of the landing gear tires.

Firefighters at Dallas Airport also responded to a second airplane – a Spirit Airlines jet that touched down from Orlando with a landing gear tire in flames. “We will reaccommodate passengers on another aircraft to ORD”. “They did a good job getting everyone off the plane”, passenger B.J. Spirit told ABC News that its maintenance team was working to fix the ruined tire.
