A Trump-Flynn matchup could be complicated by party politics
“Donald Trump is about the future of this country and making sure that we take a direction… that puts us back on a track that we can continue to be the global leader around the world”, said Flynn. And they are the ones that have to make the decision because they’re the one that’s – ones that are going to decide to bring up that child or not.
“I would not change a lick how I operate”.
Retired Lt. General Michael T. Flynn said that when he was Defense Intelligence Agency director from 2012 to 2014, President Obama never called him into meetings about intelligence issues.
One of the top candidates to join Donald Trump on the Republican ticket is coming under fire for going against the party line on a major issue.
Though Flynn hasn’t been a politician, he is no stranger to the Obama administration, or to political infighting.
“Considering Trump has had serious issues when it comes to messaging and the pro-life position (which is the Republican Party’s platform), it probably wouldn’t be a wise move to pick a running mate who is in favor of abortion rights”.
Then he dropped a bombshell, stating women should be able to decide if they want to have an abortion or not.
The Republican National Convention kicks off in Cleveland next Monday.
On same-sex marriage, Flynn said, “What people do in their private lives, these are not big issues that our country’s dealing with”.
Cillizza listed Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich as possible picks from the political sphere. “Trump is having a hard enough time convincing people that he’ll be a suitably conservative candidate”, she said.
Appearing on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe”, referring to Jeb Bush and other members of the GOP establishment Flynn said, “First of all, the people in that establishment, they need to check their egos”.
Except for, you know, all of Trump’s ideas that he would have to support: Flynn also failed to condemn the killing the families of terror suspects, refusing to comment definitively and instead saying, “I have to see the circumstances of that situation”. Trump didn’t name names, but it suggests Flynn might no longer be on that list.
“I would not think a second to vote for anybody else”, he told CNN’s Chris Cuomo on “New Day”. In Trump’s case – I met with Donald Trump nearly a year ago, the latter part of last summer. Dannenfelser said Flynn’s stance remains unacceptable to social conservatives.
For one, the career military man is a registered Democrat, and his addition to the ticket could cause even greater backlash from conservatives wary about Trump’s history supporting Democratic causes.
