Kevin Durant says relationship with Russell Westbrook won’t be the same
It is no doubt that being a Oklahoma City Thunder fan is tough at the moment.
Among the most notable names in the trade market is Russell Westbrook, who has been in the heat of trade talks following Kevin Durant’s decision to spurn the Thunder over the Golden State Warriors.
Bleacher Report’s Howard Beck has noted that the Thunder might trade Westbrook even before the start of the new season for the National Basketball Association and when that happens, all hell will break lose once again as teams would be scrambling to get their shot at signing the eight-year veteran. With Westbrook set to become a free agent next year, there is growing sentiment that the Thunder may try to trade him now and take whatever return they can get, using the newly acquired assets to help in the unplanned and unexpected rebuild.
“Right now, his mindset in on the team they have and can we add pieces in the short term, can we go out in free agency”, Wojnarowski said. We’ll start it off with none other than the Celtics, because they have plenty of young talent. He is an experienced professional and the fourth overall pick from the 2008 NBA Draft boasts the qualities and traits to suggest that he will be a superb leader. But the Celtics should stick with building a team around all-star Isaiah Thomas.
Westbrook does not seem to want to stay with the Thunder, as rumors over the last week have confirmed. If a trade were to happen sending Westbrook to the Lakers, it would be ideal to expect D’Angelo and another player like Clarkson to traded.
“No team is going to pay a hefty price without getting a commitment from Westbrook”, the source said.
Bleacher Report’s Howard Beck reported this week that multiple GMs foresee a Russell Westbrook trade before the upcoming season begins, with Boston as the most obvious destination. “And because of that, the logical next step is that Sam Presti, who is always ahead of the curve on these things, will look to trade him”.
Now the chaos is over and Westbrook is the lone star on his team for the first time in this career.
The ball is in Russell Westbrook’s court.
If the trade rumors will become a reality, Russell Westbrook will get an early revenge from a former pal, who trashed their strong bond in desperation to get a championship title.
An offer with a butt-load of picks, including potentially Brooklyn’s picks, from the Celtics could prove more enticing for the Thunder.
It would make flawless sense to place Westbrook in a high octane offensive schema that new head coach Luke Walton would surely implement from his time as the Warriors assistant head coach. It’s pretty hard to narrow down a deal between the Timberwolves and Thunder, because there are just so many options. Millsap would definitely be included in a deal with the Hawks, but the Thunder would likely also want point guard Dennis Schroder as well. It’s on me to come in there and adapt to what they’ve been doing.
