Wimbledon 2016: Andy Murray wins Wimbledon by defeating Milos Raonic
Andy Murray says he is unlikely to feature in Great Britain’s Davis Cup clash with Serbia this week following his Wimbledon triumph on Sunday.
“His hard court form is great, we know how good he is there, and a great foundation for him over the last couple of years is how many matches he’s won on clay”.
“I spoke to Leon last night at the champions” dinner briefly.
‘But I’m going to speak to him this afternoon. “Playing at a Wimbledon final is tough and I certainly wouldn’t want to be prime minister, it’s a tough job”, he said before disappearing into the plush corridors of Center Court to be greeted by well-wishers including Prince William and Hollywood actor Benedict Cumberbatch. Posting a picture of the three of them on Twitter, Judy wrote: “The morning after the day before”.
Murray led Britain to their first Davis Cup success in 79 years with victory over Belgium in November and the trophy was on display at the Wimbledon Museum during the tournament.
Shvedova, who lost to Venus in the singles quarterfinals this week, was trying to win her third Grand Slam doubles title, after teaming with Vania King to win Wimbledon and the U.S. Open in 2010.
He also said that Andy’s “return of serve” is something his brother has always done well – especially when faced with Raonic’s impressive 140mph serves.
“He was two sets to love up against Jo (Wilfried Tsonga) who made a strong fight back, then Andy had to turn it around in a very strong way in the fifth set”. We’ve all worked really hard to help get me in this position.
Andy Murray thrilled his homecountry fans by claiming a second title in four years at Wimbledon on Sunday, defeating first-time Grand Slam finalist Milos Raonic of Canada 6-4, 7-6(3), 7-6(2).
Murray said he would like to overtake Djokovic as the world number one, but admitted it would be a tough task.
After the triumph, the 29-year-old world number two buried his head in his towel and wept in the moments after the victory.
“The last 18 months, he’s been unbelievable and hardly lost any matches at all”.
“But obviously having children changes your perspective on life, changes your perspective on things, so I feel like I’m appreciating things a bit more now”. “I feel happier this time, more content. I feel like this was sort of more for myself more than anything, and my team as well”, said Murray.
“Did I mean to embarrass Cameron?”
