Police told WESH that Owens does have a criminal history, but they never imagined he could do something like this.
Owens was quickly tackled by two unarmed hospital security guards and arrested.
“A motive is unknown in the shooting, which took place on the third floor of the Parrish Medical Center”. He said without a doubt, the staff’s quick response had helped to save more lives.
Police Chief John Lau described the investigation as “fluid” during a press conference Sunday afternoon.
“We’re a public facility and we welcome anyone into our facility”, said Natalie Sellers, spokeswoman for the hospital.
The suspect left the handgun he used in Zingsheim’s room, Hutchinson said.
Brevard County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Titusville Police Department in the situation. “There may be something later in the day that connects the dots for us”.
Lau said the hospital is operating “business as usual”. Lau went on to praise the hospital staff for their quick response. “They lost a member of their team”.
