California mom regrets allowing party where 14 were shot
Fourteen people were wounded when someone opened fire from a auto on the guests in front of a house in Bakersfield, California.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office said about 150 people were at the party on Stephens Drive, near Belle Terrace and Wible Road.
“How nobody was killed is kind of a miracle”, Kern County Sheriff’s spokesman Ray Pruitt said. She promoted it on social media and about 150 people arrived many uninvited.
The party got a little noisy, Hager said, adding that “it wasn’t out of line”.
Authorities say alcohol was served at the weekend party, making the parents liable.
Consequently, three people came up the street and opened fire on the crowd.
Pruitt said his department does not have a description of the vehicle, and deputies have been having difficulty getting victims and witnesses to identify the shooters.
The department said that officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 800 block of 8th Street at 10:42 p.m. and they found an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
About a dozen people met up in Southwest Bakersfield at Centennial Park on Sunday evening to hold a prayer group for the 14 victims who were shot.
Of the 14 people struck, two were in critical condition, officials said. He praised the family as the “best neighbors”, who watch over his property when he and his wife leave town.
The fight started at about 1 a.m. Saturday.
