A highly anticipated rematch is set to punctuate this year’s July Fourth hot dog eating contest on Coney Island’s famed boardwalk.
Chestnut won this dog-fight in a landslide by downing 70 hot dogs in just 10 minutes!
Joey Chestnut, the biggest name in competitive eating, reclaimed his title as the victor of Nathan’s International Hot Dog-Eating Contest that took place at Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York, on Monday.
Animal rights activists stormed the stage during the annual Nathan’s Famous hot dog eating contest at Coney Island. Many in the crowd wore foam hats shaped like hot dogs. In that year, Stonie gobbled up 62 hot dogs and buns to Chestnut’s 60.
It wasn’t even close, as Matt Stonie came in second with a total of 53.
“By all that is holy, I’ve never seen Chestnut eat like this”, said Major League Eating co-founder George Shea, “Joey Chestnut is America”. He needed to improve his breathing while swallowing hot dogs, Chestnut told the assembled journalists.
That marks the most hot dogs ever consumed by a human being in that amount of time at this event.
