Police kill attacker who slashed passengers on German train
The Bavarian Interior Ministry said police shot and killed the attacker as he fled the train.
Another 14 people are being treated for shock.
“Shortly after arriving at Wuerzburg, a man attacked passengers with an axe and a knife”, a police spokesman said.
The attacker’s motive is not yet known, Hench said.
The assailant fled from the train and was confronted by police officers in the southern German province of Bavaria.
The department said the Hongkongers comprised a group of five, and that four of them were injured.
If confirmed, the incident would represent the most significant Islamist attack in Germany since a Kosovar gunman killed two American servicemen in 2011.
A teenage Afghan refugee injured multiple people when he went on a slashing spree with an axe and knife on a train in Germany Monday.
The train was brought to a halt during the attack when one passenger pulled the emergency brake, according to Bavarian radio station BR. He said that a special police unit was rerouted to the scene and apprehended the attacker in Heidingsfeld.
Three of the victims were critically wounded.
