Release Date & Everything We Know So Far — Microsoft Surface Phone
There’s a lot of anticipation and talk about the new generation Microsoft Surface Pro 5, so it should make sense if the imminent launch could be for this very same device. On the other hand, the drag on the release date can be attributed to the popularity of its predecessor Surface Pro 4 in which the imminent Kaby Lake update is expected to be embedded.
Sales of new Windows phones have collapsed, and new devices such as Lumia 950 and 950 XL have failed to boost demand, with people close to the matter now indicating that Microsoft is taking a different approach, with no new Lumia models planned for this year.
For a long time, rumors have been circulated around the technology world regarding Microsoft Surface Phone. It is reported that the photos were taken in Redmond, inside the Microsoft’s Building 88, one of which unveiled the upcoming surface devices as appeared to be. They show placeholders for what appears to be a Surface device with the words “2016” and “coming soon”, as well as three devices with “2017” on them. The update is called Redstone 2 or RS2 and Microsoft allegedly wants to hold off on the launch until Redstone is installed in the new Surface devices.
With prices starting at £749 all inclusive, Microsoft’s latest Surface pro 4 tablet brings in a 12.3-inch display with a resolution of 2736 x 1824p, choice of 6th Gen Intel m3, i5 and i7 processors, a USB 3.0 port, MicroSD card reader, a headset jack, a mini DisplayPort and a Cover Port like Surface Pro 3.
As PC Advisor noted, the Surface Pro 5 could come with a 2K screen or a 4K screen that would be available for a higher price.
The Surface Book 2 is expected to arrive in October; however, it is revealed that Microsoft’s upcoming tech is set to come out in 2017, as per Christian Today.
As rumors are taking rounds, the Surface Phone is supposedly equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor that includes 4GB of Ram, Bitbagstated.
While all of these details sound exciting, everything is still pure speculation at this point. An official date for its release is not announced yet but the device appears to be the next flagship phone from Microsoft.
