Diaz walks off as Cardinals complete comeback, sweep

Aledmys Diaz was the hero, slashing an RBI single for the winning run as St. Louis won four straight games at home for the first time this year.
Wainwright believes the comeback win can lead to better things. “We’re ready to run off a 12-spot or something”. Alexei Ramirez lined a one-out single to left that scored Ryan Schimpf, who led off with a double.
The Padres had two on and no outs in the fifth but failed to execute on a safety squeeze when Travis Jankowski tapped back to the mound, giving Garcia time to throw to the plate for a tag.

The ball glanced off Holliday’s batting helmet and appeared to strike him in the nose. X-rays were negative and he is listed as day-to-day.

There is not yet any news about a player getting called up by the Padres: their Triple-A affiliate, the El Paso Chihuahuas, is now in the middle of a series against the Redbirds in El Paso. Moss was placed on the 15-day DL on July 5 with a sprained ankle.
