Mike Scott Charged With Drug Possession
Atlanta Hawks forward Mike Scott, a former University of Virginia basketball player from Chesapeake, was arrested in Georgia for having drugs in his possession, according to AccessWDUN.
Banks County officials said deputies attempted to stop the vehicle after noticing the driver following too close to other vehicles.
Scott was charged with one count of felony marijuana possession and one count of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.
The driver of the auto, Antonn Imhotep Scott, 20, of Acworth, was charged with fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement officers, following too closely in addition to felony drug possession.
The auto was stopped after a two-mile chase and they found more than an ounce of weed and 10 grams of MDMA.
“We are aware of the situation involving Mike Scott this morning”, Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said. “Out of respect for the legal process, we will not have any additional comment at this time”. Scott is under contract with the Hawks for the next two seasons, Atlanta owes him roughly $3.33 million each season. In 68 games in 2014-15, he averaged 7.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists.
