Christie: Trump endorsement was for good of state GOP
It wasn’t quite the role he was hoping to play this week.
If Trump had picked Christie he would have had a runningmate that offered nothing.
Any awkwardness, however, was hard to detect when Christie took the stage. “Tonight, as a former federal prosecutor, I welcome the opportunity to hold Hillary Rodham Clinton accountability for her performance and character”.
“Is she guilty or not guilty?”
Frequently interrupted to chants of “lock her up, lock her up”, Christie told the eager audience, “Oh we’re not done yet”.
“I’m a veteran that went to Desert Shield, Desert Storm. I’ll consider it and if I don’t, I’ll finish my term and get in the private sector like you Marvin”.
Clinton wrote a college thesis about Alinsky and has said she agreed with some of his opinions on social change, but disagreed with his view that the system could only be changed from the outside. “So I’m disappointed, no doubt I was disappointed, but I’m over it”.
Mr Trump’s transition advisers fear that Mr Obama may convert these appointees to civil servants, who have more job security than officials who have been politically appointed.
“Whether a person likes Hillary Clinton or not, the idea that a New Hampshire lawmaker would suggest that a candidate should be executed is just outrageous”, Jasper said. While the endorsement came as a shock, those who had seen 14-years long personal relationship between the two were not surprised.
Clinton, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, made the comments at a stop in Las Vegas where she addressed the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees national convention, touting her union support, including an endorsement announced Tuesday from Unite Here.
However, that is “mild stuff” compared to what we are seeing at this year’s RNC, he said.
However, she did hit Republicans and the convention for what she said were a dearth of ideas, including Trump’s own supporters. But, “while Clinton is hitting a new low”, Trump’s negatives, which are only slightly worse than hers, “seem to have leveled off and maybe even improved a bit in recent months”.
Trump, a successful business man, self-funded his campaign and spent less than money than most of his party’s other presidential candidates.
Chris Christie’s mock prosecution whipped up a crowd that was willing to be pulled into the fringes of political acceptability. That Hillary Clinton will be picked in November to put her hands on the controls is not assured.
Christie said he will seek to emulate former President George W. Bush by staying out of the news when he leaves office.
