Star Trek series title revealed
CBS has managed to keep their new All-Access Star Trek series with Bryan Fuller under wraps, but the cat’s officially out of the bag at Comic-Con 2016. While all of the previous series utilized an episodic format, allowing each episode to stand on its own and be watched mostly individually, that won’t be the case with Fuller’s new work. In January of 2017 Star Trek will be returning to television – at least what we consider television now – streaming on CBS All Access without the former restraints that the franchise felt of broadcast television.
For those wanting a bit more technical information, Fuller revealed in the presser after the Hall H appearance that his series will take place in the Prime universe.
Star Trek begins production in September. “We’re telling a 13-chapter story in this first season”. Star Trek celebrates diversity.
“What the new series has to do is to…push boundaries…to give us hope for the future”.
“We want to carry on what Star Trek does best”, the producer said, “which is being progressive”. “We’re going to be telling stories like a novel”, he told the Comic-Con audience.
“I think Star Trek in general has been about about individual rights and about respecting everyone, no matter who or what the are”, Spiner said.
Bryan Fuller, executive producer of the new series, offered a slight glimpse into Discovery, suggesting it would be more serialized than its predecessors, which account for 762 episodes.
