Coach accident in France injures fifteen people
A spokesman for the UK’s Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) said there were 48 people on board the coach, which set off from the United Kingdom yesterday.
Local media reports that the coach crashed into a ditch on the A39 motorway near the Swiss border, in Lons-le-Saunier. It was operated by North Wales firm Express Motors, and had two drivers on board.
He said: “I feel sick and shocked”.
Police will hold a press conference later today.
It is yet to be confirmed if those travelling onboard were part of a school trip.
One of the youngsters is thought to have sustained life-threatening injuries, according to local emergency services.
Two helicopters and 10 ambulances were dispatched to the scene and 60 firefighters were deployed after the mid-morning crash.
An Acorn Adventure spokeswoman said: “The Acorn Adventure team are now establishing the details of exactly what has happened alongside the coach operator and the local emergency services who we understand responded very swiftly”.
Members of the group have been taken to the nearby town of Courlaoux. No other vehicles are believed to be involved in the crash.
