AAP MLA Amanatullah sent to one-day police custody
As per reports the Sangrur police conducted the raid after the Malerkotla court had issued an arrest warrant on Saturday.
The Arvind Kejriwal-headed Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) has 67 legislators in the 70-member Delhi assembly after it swept to power in February 2015.
The complainant has alleged that a supporter of Khan was abusing her on the orders of the AAP MLA.
“The video also states that police asked her to file the complaint”.
The charges against Khan included criminal intimidation and insulting the modesty of a woman, officer Ranjan said.
Delhi police on Sunday arrested AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan, who was booked for allegedly threatening a woman.
Joint Commissioner of Police, Southeast Range, R P Upadhyay said, “She alleged that a vehicle, in which Khan was sitting, tried to mow her down as she was returning home from his residence”.
AAP hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday over the arrest of its two MLAs, saying this is a “proof” of his frustration.
He said that dalits and Patidars were being arrested in Gujarat in fake cases and the same was happening in Delhi. “Gujarat and Delhi will now fight together”, said Kejriwal.
Paramraj Singh Umra Nangal said in Chandigarh, “We have arrested AAP MLA Naresh Yadav from his house in Delhi”. Recently, Hardik Patel had been released after being arrested on charges of sedition.
Party leader Ashish Khetan termed the arrest as the darkest time after Emergency.
“If Modi thinks the spectre of imprisonment and police torture will weaken the resolve of the AAP, then he is sadly mistaken”.

A team of Punjab police today arrested AAP legislator Naresh Yadav from Mehrauli in connection with the Quran sacrilege incident, which had occurred in Punjab’s Muslim-dominated town of Malerekotla, last month. Agitated with the agitation, a number of commuters also had heated arguments with AAP workers, they said. He also said BJP was scared because of AAP’s rising popularity.
