SDCC 2016: Brie Larson Confirmed As ‘Captain Marvel’
To explain her character in brief detail, Carol Danvers could be referred to as both Captain Marvel or Ms. Marvel. I really hope that happens.
It’s safe to say that Brie will be welcomed into the Marvel Universe with open arms. We did a movie together back in ’09, ‘Scott Pilgrim vs The World.’ I can not say enough about Brie Larson. Brie Larson’s going to nail it.
Feige added that although she is a terrestrially-based character, Captain Marvel, true to form, has some otherworldly abilities as well.
Larson then bragged about her superhero role by tweeting a photo of her wearing a Marvel Studios cap and captioned it, “Call me Captain Marvel”.
It’s nearly guaranteed this will be the Carol Danvers seen in Kelly Sue DeConnick’s run of the series, which saw artists including David Lopez and Dexter Soy drawing the character as she moved up from being a “Ms”.
The film is due in cinemas on July 6th 2018, with Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman working on the screenplay. The film is being produced by Kevin Feige.
There is now no director attached to the film.
In the world of comics, Carol Danvers is the eighth person to use the persona Captain Marvel.
Marvel brought its A game to Comic Con this year.
Marvel hit a home run today at San Diego Comic Con, showcasing plenty of sneak peeks and swanky new logos for its upcoming slate.
