Clinton on Trump: ‘I can’t really imagine him on a white horse’
Susan Hutchison bumped into Cruz near an elevator shortly after he was booed off the stage at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland on Wednesday night.
Trump’s forceful promises to be the champion of disaffected Americans closed out his convention on a high note for the party, not a moment too soon after shows of disharmony and assorted flubs before Thursday night’s closer.
“He’s not going to win 60, 70, 80 percent of the vote, he probably won’t even win 50 (percent), I don’t know but he is taking support from a variety of places that Republicans have not been able to take support from in the past”, Crosby said. He added: “Ted, stay home”. At the time, Cruz criticized Trump for involving his wife and Trump’s responded by accusing a super PAC affiliated with Cruz of sending a risque photo of Melania Trump to Utah voters.
“I don’t know his father”. “Then when I saw somebody tweeted a picture of Melania and a picture of Heidi, who I think, by the way, is a very nice woman and a very lovely woman”. As for Cruz’s father, Trump cited a National Enquirer story linking Cruz’s father to Lee Harvey Oswald.
Trump turned to justifying how, on the eve of the IN primary, he touted a story IN the National Enquirer tabloid that printed a photo that purported to show Cruz’s father, Rafael, with Lee Harvey Oswald.
Cruz allies have since repeatedly pointed to that low blow from Trump as a reason for refusing to support the Republican nominee.
Cruz defended his convention speech during a breakfast with the Texas delegation on Thursday.
Wearing a shiny red tie and standing behind a lectern trimmed in his trademark gold, Trump accepted the Republican nomination in a speech that departed only occasionally from text released earlier in the day, declaring that for the “people who work hard but no longer have a voice, I am your voice“.
Trump depicted Clinton, secretary of state in President Barack Obama’s first term, as responsible for a litany of foreign policy challenges, painting her as directly responsible for the rise of Islamic State and chaos in the Middle East.
For Jones, it wasn’t just that Cruz didn’t endorse Trump, it was the way he did it. Ted Cruz did not endorse Donald Trump for president, and she gave Cruz a piece of her mind.
But Trump appeared to dispute that on Friday morning, saying Cruz went off-script at the convention.
“I think you are seeing more and more as time progresses, people are recognizing that Donald Trump won the primary process, earned the electoral votes and he’s our party’s nominee”, Davis said.
Cruz said the “politically easy option” would be to back the nominee no matter who it might be, but he insisted: “This is not a game, it is not politics”.
Cruz delegate Eric Burlison, a Missouri House member from Springfield, said Cruz would have been better off sending a videotaped message as U.S. Sen. Trump also spoke to the crowd via satellite after he was nominated Tuesday, but Thursday night will be his opportunity to outline his vision for a Trump presidency in detail to the party and to America.
“I don’t see him winning anyway, frankly”.
Which isn’t to say Trump’s RNC hasn’t had spectacle.
