Benedict Cumberbatch Is Electrifying In Teaser For New Season Of ‘Sherlock’
Today’s Sherlock panel at San Diego Comic-con has left us a bit overwhelmed with information about the upcoming series of the detective drama – but perhaps the most interesting nugget revealed (apart from the trailer, of course) was also one of the most subtle.
An air date for the new season was not confirmed but it’s known that Sherlock season 4 is going to return at some point next year. She said that the show’s shooting schedule would be somewhat delayed due to Benedict Cumberbatch’s growing popularity but that the series would be returning. (“Did you miss me?”) Or is it an elaborate ruse played by the show’s new villain?
We won’t say anything but it’s safe to assume that it’s time for Sherlock to re-enter his mind palace. “Maybe it’s Moriarty. Maybe it’s not”. At least now we can watch the trailer over and over again to keep us occupied until then.
Fans are also treated to some new faces, particularly that of the series’ newest baddie. Season 4 will see the addition of Captain America actor Toby Jones in the role of a mystery Sir Arthur Conan Doyle villain who’s all set to pop up in Episode 2.
The video teases that “Everything they know will be tested”. “There’s a lot of that in the new season…” You’ve got to put the characters through the emotional wringer. It’s about time somebody brought down the “government official” a peg or twelve.
