Modobag lets you scooter around the airport on your luggage
It actually has smart features that work with the company’s official app. This application helps you locate the bag using Global Positioning System.
It’s approved by aviation authorities and is the correct size for hand luggage, meaning you can take it anywhere you like.
Rolling through the airport on a motorised carry-on that fits into overhead bins makes for an interesting sight. Just don’t pop a wheelie while taking it out for a spin, not if you want to be stopped by airport security. Rather than pulling your luggage from terminal to terminal, travelers can sit on the Modobag and reach speeds up to 8 miles per hour, thanks to an electric motor.
The company attempted a campaign on Kickstarter previous year, but failed to raise enough money.
He was pulling his kids along on his suitcase at the airport when he decided there had to be an easier way.
Meet Modobag. College buddies and founders Kevin O’Donnell and Boyd Bruner bill their brainchild as the “world’s first, motorized, rideable luggage”.
Of course, this is going to come at a steep price and with the Indiegogo project launching recently, one can get in on the ground floor for the low-low price of $995. Customers also receive a Lithium Smart Charger that can utilize household outlets to fully charge the suitcase.
How much would you be willing to pay for a motorized suitcase? As of this writing it has already raised over $70,000 by just 72 backers and bested its initial goal of a $50,000 investment level. And somehow its all FAA, TSA, UN and IATA compliant, according to Modobag. Impressively, a full-charged battery can take its passenger for up to six miles.
