Gas prices down in Omaha area, statewide
AAA said gas for less than $2 is now available in 36 states and estimated that more than a quarter of gas stations are selling regular gas at sub-$2 prices.
It’s been almost two years since gas prices dropped at this kind of consistency, a decline now at 47 days in Georgia.
The Massachusetts average for self-service regular gas moved to $2.226 per gallon on Wednesday, down 2.7 cents from the prior Wednesday’s $2.253, the auto club found.
The price is five cents above the national average of $2.16.
State of Tennessee- $1.92, down 4.4 cents per gallon from last week’s $1.96.
“These two stations are brand new”, said George Willis, who stopped to get gas at the Stripes. This is the highest ever mark for gasoline supplies during the month of July, according to Department of Energy records.
Tammy Arnette, senior public affairs specialist for AAA Mid-Atlantic, said that as of Wednesday, Virginia gas prices were 55 cents cheaper than the same time a year ago and $1.40 less than in 2014.
In West Coast, gas prices are slightly high when compared to other parts, however it is much less than the prior year.
The statewide average is $2.11, as of Sunday. This is supported by data from the American Petroleum Institute, which last week reported fuel deliveries for June were three percent higher than 2015 and the highest number in nine years.
“Oil refinery output and production has been very strong”, he said.
Last December, Omaha’s average gas price was $1.97 per gallon, also thanks to a glut of oil on the world market.
