Demi Lovato Opens Up About Mental Illness at Democratic Convention
Demi Lovato championed mental health reform at the Democratic National Convention on Monday (25Jul16) as she endorsed Hillary Clinton for USA president.
“Like millions of Americans, I’m living with mental illness”, the singer, who has always been open about her experience with bipolar disorder and substance abuse, told the crowd.
She says, “But I am lucky. I’m doing my very small part by having the treatment center that saw me through my recovery on tour with me, so that at least a small group of people, even for a brief moment, can have the same support that I received”. She says Hillary Clinton will help Americans in need of care get the treatment they require.
She added that she wanted to “urge every politician to support laws that provide better access to healthcare and support for everyone”. “It is simply the right thing to do”.
