Clinton says veep pick Kaine is everything GOP ticket isn’t

In one leaked email, a DNC official wondered whether Sanders’ religious beliefs could be used against him, questioning whether the candidate may be an atheist.
Democratic Party chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned over the weekend after Sanders’ campaign pounced on a number of leaked emails that they said showed that party officials had favored Clinton during the primaries.
Trump has repeatedly referred to Clinton as “Crooked Hillary”.

Democratic convention officials and the Clinton campaign would not say whether Wasserman Schultz would have a speaking role at all or whether she will call the convention to order today, as she did at the 2012 convention.
Democratic pollster Geoff Garin said he is realistic about how hard it is to remake Clinton’s image.
Clinton ultimately chose Tim Kaine as her VP, but the process was extensive for him and the other finalists.
“I’m not excited”, said Matthew Mousley, 36, of Springfield, who nevertheless plans to support Clinton. “There’s not going to be many more chances like this”.
The planned campaign stops in Pennsylvania come as some polls show the race tightening for the state’s 20 electoral votes; some political analysts are now saying the race is a toss-up between Clinton and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
Sanders tells NBC’s “Meet the Press”, that Kaine is a “very, very smart guy” and a “very nice guy” but wouldn’t have been his vice presidential choice.
DNC Vice Chair Donna Brazile, a veteran Democratic strategist who will lead the party on an interim basis after the convention, warned more leaked emails, and more apologies, could be coming. Her team has drafted a schedule featuring four days of speakers who will hammer away at Trump’s “dangerous and divisive” vision for the country.
Clinton, a former USA senator and secretary of state who will accept the Democratic Party’s nomination for president on Thursday, and Kaine, a US senator from Virginia, are scheduled to campaign in downtown Harrisburg Friday night. He stressed, however, the importance of Clinton continuing to embrace a progressive vision during the general election.
“A compromise of this nature is something we take very seriously, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation will continue to investigate and hold accountable those who pose a threat in cyberspace”, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said in a statement.
Clinton is also about to pick up a coveted endorsement.

And Clinton heads into Philadelphia with a political partner. In her view, she has a straight flush heading into the fall with President Barack Obama, former President Bill Clinton, Vice President Joe Biden, Sanders and Sen.
Cohen noted “the displeasure with Kaine” among many delegates, and said that Kaine could be challenged from the floor.
