USU basketball: Grayson Moore named to NABC Honors Court
Carleton was one of four MIAC men’s basketball programs to earn the Team Academic Excellence Award, as the Knights were joined by Concordia, Saint Mary’s and Macalester in receiving the honor.
The Honors Court list includes five members of the Bulldogs team that upset Baylor in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to secure its first-ever NCAA Tournament win. He now has a 3.33 GPA and is a two-time Pac-12 all-academic honoree having received first team honors as a junior in 2015-16 and second team as a sophomore.
The Titans named to the 2015-16 NABC Honors Court were last year’s seniors Ryan Coyle (business-finance), Bryce Dolan (business-finance), Rob Mahlke (business-finance), Mike Marietti (business administration), Brian Nelms (economics and marketing) and Joel Pennington (accounting), along with juniors Austin Amann (business administration) and Trevor Seibring (business administration). His 118 rebounds were second on the team last season, while he averaged 5.8 points and shot 51 percent from the field.
Since the GCAA poll began in 2009, the Blue Demons have etched academic honors every year. The Wildcats were among eight Southeastern Conference schools to capture All-Academic team accolades from the GCAA joining Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
Kading posted a 3.84 GPA as an exercise science major and played in 31-of-33 games after missing the first two contests while recovering from off-season surgeries.
The golf team has continued to meet the standard of Athletic Director Mitch Barnhart’s department-wide goal of an all-encompassing 3.0 GPA. He has scored 88 career points with 49 rebounds, 26 assists and 13 steals.
Navy was 19-14 in 2015-16 and tied for fourth place in the Patriot League at 9-9. Werner ranked fifth on the team in scoring at 8.4 points per game and registered four double-doubles. A physics major with a 3.83 GPA, Chen is spending the summer as a research assistant at the University of Illinois College of Engineering, and is set to enroll at Columbia University’s School of Engineering this fall.
