There he goes again: Trump slams ‘ruined’ Ted Cruz
During his speech accepting the party’s presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention Thursday night, Trump said that it was important to protect LGBTQ people from foreign actors who might wish them harm.
He said America will be a country of safety, prosperity and peace, a country of generosity and warmth, but also a country of law and order.
Trump’s speech offers a sharp contrast with that of the last Republican nominee, Mitt Romney, who in his speech criticized President Obama for “disappointing” the nation but offered a more uplifting vision. On Wednesday, Cruz shocked the convention hall in a speech in which he failed to endorse Trump.
Trump was introduced by his daughter Ivanka, who announced a childcare policy proposal that the campaign had not mentioned before.
“I’m with you, I will fight for you, and I will win for you”, Trump will say, according to speech excerpts released by his campaign and a draft text circulating among news organizations.
On Monday, the convention’s opening day, a group of anti-Trump delegates that included Cruz backers tried to force a roll call on convention rules in a bid to force an “open convention” in which they could vote for any candidate they wanted.
“Nobody knows the system better than me, which is why I alone can fix it”.
“But Hillary Clinton’s legacy does not have to be America’s legacy”.
He pledged to stick to his most controversial proposals, which include building a wall along the entire US-Mexico border and suspending immigration from nations “compromised by terrorism”.
Cruz and Trump have significant bad political blood between them. “And resentment but no solutions about anything that he even talked about”, she said. Donald Trump was a Democrat most of his life. He also says he would force USA allies in Europe and Asia to pay more for the US defense umbrella.
Donald Trump says people who want a conservative justice to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court have no choice but to vote for him. Trump, who has famously touted his successful business operations and degree from the Wharton School of Finance as evidence of his leadership abilities, is the first-ever nominee for a major American political party with no previous experience in elected or appointed office.
“When you have my father in your corner, you will never again have to worry about being let down”, Ivanka Trump told the American people in her speech. Similar to a certain Republican nominee, Cruz couldn’t care less.
But the Republican party rank-and-file lapped it up, rising to its feet in standing ovation after standing ovation and displaying none of the divisions that have plagued the four-day convention.
Baloney. What the senator really did was inject decency, standards and integrity into a GOP nominating process that has abandoned all three in the rush to provide a united front against presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. He joked that Trump is charismatic and must have been looking for balance in choosing him.
