Google removes Hamas app from Android store

Apps are limited to 25MB of backup data and are synced to a user’s Google Account. The option of placing ads in the Play Store client will start rolling out today to all advertisers and devs who use the search app install campaign for AdWords.

Google has suspended a number of apps from its Play store following concerns that they were secretly running ads that could not be seen by users and were defrauding advertisers out of an estimated $1bn a year. But we can expect it to go Global for everyone soon. Other apps have gone for another way of not featuring ads in the app – by charging a small amount of money to purchase it. This is to the advantage that there will no longer be a need to further program the app to make the ads fit inside them.

“Search Ads on Google Play can provide consumers new ways to discover apps that they otherwise might have missed and help developers drive more awareness of their apps”, Google said in its blog post announcing the news.

To ensure data consistency and give developers the freedom to use reporting and optimization features across AdWords and third-party solutions of their choice, Google is working with key partners like Tune, AppsFlyer, Kochava, Adjust and Apsalar.

The study researchers built algorithms that hunted for instances when fraudulent ads showed their hand with suspiciously non-human behaviour. It will let developers get their ads up on all supported platforms of Google, which includes Search, the AdMob in-app network, YouTube and the 2M+ sites on the Google Display Network.
