Do Not Believe in Trump’s ‘Believe Me’ Rhetoric: Kaine
But introducing himself to the nation Wednesday night at the Democratic National Convention, the Virginia senator showed he can also wield a dagger with the steeliest of political partisans – albeit in a genial, by-gosh manner.
Because any party that would nominate Donald Trump for president has moved too far away from his party of Lincoln.
“I’ve got a lot of great memories and some I’m not looking forward to repeating”, Kaine said.
Tim Kaine capped off one of the biggest nights of his life with a commanding speech, encouraging the delegates at the Democratic National Convention to believe in a Clinton/Kaine ticket.
In a series of tough attacks on Trump, Kaine said no one running for US President just says “believe me” without describing their plans and policies. And with Hillary, it’s accomplishment – she delivers’. “Ready to fight, ready to win, ready to lead”.
Employing snippets of Spanish, Kaine quoted other Republicans-from former First Lady Barbara Bush, to John McCain’s national security adviser to Ohio Gov. John Kasich-to condemn Trump as a “risky, reckless and radical choice”.
Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is endorsing Hillary Clinton – and that’s giving her the support of an independent who says he votes based on the candidate, “not the party label”. You know, we’re together.
He said he took off a year from law school to travel to Honduras and help disadvantaged populations there, much like Clinton stayed at Yale Law an extra year to learn how to help children in the United States more.
In discussing Trump however, Kaine asked the audience at the Wells Fargo Center auditorium to examine the billionaire’s record.
“I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised by the range and depth of his progressive credentials”, said Rep. Peter Welch, a Democrat from Vermont who backed Sanders. Monday, he appeared on Spanish-language broadcaster Telemendo for an interview conducted entirely in Spanish, vowing serious immigration reform would happen within “in the first 100 days” of a Hillary Clinton presidency.
‘You can not believe one word that comes out of Donald Trump’s mouth’.
Before closing his remarks, Kaine returned to making the case for Clinton, something he’ll spend the next three months doing as he crisscrosses the country.
“He’s trying to tell us he cares about the middle class?”
