Ubisoft announce Zombi for Xbox One
Having played the game on the Wii U, I can tell you that it’s pretty old school and you will love it if you are a fan of horror games.
Despite its poor sales performance as a Wii U exclusive, the game itself is very well done, and now it’ll be available to those on the other two big consoles, as well as PC.
There have been rumors of Ubisoft porting the excellent Wii U launch title ZombiU to other platforms for a while, but now it’s official: Zombi (no more u!) arrives digitally on August 18.
This is excellent news for owners of these systems, but I can’t help but wonder how the game will actually work without a second screen.
The only mode not returning in Zombi is the multiplayer mode. In the game, players must attempt to distract or avoid zombies rather than take them on with the scarce ammo they find. Of course, your previous attempt carries on running around as a zombie once you’ve kicked the bucket and will still be carrying all of the stuff that you collected. It definitely won’t feel like the same ZombiU experience found on the Wii U in this case, but it’s still good that more people will have a chance to try out what is one of the better survival-horror games in recent years. This sort of survival-zombie game could be a real scream in virtual reality.
We’ll be interested to see how they get around the lack of the “scanner” gamepad functionality that was present in the Wii U version. True, it was never really utilized to its full potential, and smartphones sucked the air out of the innovation to some degree. Check out the trailer below and tell us what you think.
