‘Babylon 5’ Star Jerry Doyle Dead at 60
Reported on the BBC News is the sad story that actor Jerry Doyle of the Emmy Award winning television show Babylon 5 has passed away aged 60 years old. Doyle’s first break in acting came with a role in Moonlighting, before landing the part of Garibaldi in Bablyon 5: The Gathering in 1993.
His family released a short statement on Doyle’s Twitter account saying the cause of death is now unknown. The cause of death is not yet known, though an autopsy is expected in the coming days.
But at the end of the day, “his passing is a profound loss to everyone who knew him, especially those of us who fought beside him in the trenches of Babylon 5”, said Straczynski. Initially, Doyle worked as a corporate jet pilot and long-time stockbroker before shifting his career to acting in 1991.
Doyle is not the first Babylon 5 star to pass.
Doyle whose probably best known for his role as one of the stars of the sci-fi series “Babylon 5′” as security officer Michael Garibaldi, according to Variety. It’s unclear how he died, but TMZ has been told no foul play is suspected.
At the time of his death, Doyle was the host of the Jerry Doyle Show, a syndicated political radio program that aired in roughly 300 markets. Series creator J. Michael Straczysnki had stated that he hoped to film the “Garibaldi-centric” episode for the second DVD. He said, “He was amusing, and unsafe, and loyal, and a prankster, and a pain in the a-; he was gentle and cynical and hardened and insightful and sometimes as dense as a picket fence.and his passing is a profound loss to everyone who knew him, especially those of us who fought beside him in the trenches of Babylon 5”.
He continued: “It is another loss in a string of losses that I can not understand”.
