Minecraft is getting full Oculus Rift support soon
In a post on the Xbox Wire blog, the firm said the rollout will happen in the next few weeks and will be free to those who already own the Minecraft Windows 10 edition.
And our work is not done: soon we’ll be introducing add-ons which let you dramatically modify the rules of the game, and, in the coming weeks, we’ll enable support for the Oculus Rift, giving players a whole new perspective on their favourite game. Windows 10 Edition beta, it’s limited to the latest and greatest Windows update from Microsoft, and now it’s going to give PC players a huge advantage.
Minecraft’s upcoming Oculus Rift launch will follow up on the recent introduction of Gear VR support for its mobile counterpart Minecraft Pocket Edition.
Mojang’s Oculus Rift announcement arrives on the first anniversary of Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition’s initial beta release, and the studio outlines numerous project’s recent milestones in a reflective blog post.
Microsoft has been pushing Minecraft gameplay in virtual reality pretty hard lately. They will be able to jump right in and start playing Minecraft in a way they have never played it in before. Again, no word on an exact release date.
