Gal Gadot says Princess Diana inspired her for Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman fights in a short skirt (if you can call it a skirt) and high heel boots.
In the nearly three-minute trailer, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman takes center stage in the superhero epic starring Chris Pine, Robin Wright and Connie Nielsen.
“Person after person would come up to me and say, ‘We want to do it for Gal, ‘” said the director.
“Wonder Woman” marks the character’s first time headlining a feature. She explained: “Many times, it (filming the movie) felt like we got signs from the universe”.
The World War I-era adventure, directed by Patty Jenkins, tells the story of the Amazon warrior and immortal daughter of Zeus.
She said: “She leads from her heart not from her head”. The first full trailer for the iconic hero’s solo film was packed with action and awesome imagery (like watching Gal Gadot pull a sword from the back of her fancy party dress), and gave us a real good look at the movie’s World War I setting. “When she left Themyscira to go to the world of men, she realises there is so much more that she doesn’t understand”, she added.
Earlier, Gadot’s leading man Pine also sang praises for the actress. Batman, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, (Gal Gadot) to face an even greater enemy. Gadot will also portray the character in the upcoming Justice League film, which is now filming. But Pine laughingly answered “no” since the movie is PG-13.
Wonder Woman is due to hit theaters June 2, 2017.
