“Broad City” stars visit “Late Show” as colonial women
Sorry, ladies from the past – we’re still working on it.
Well, no, Colbert corrected them again, she’s only the nominee. Broad City stars Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson stopped by to celebrate Hillary Clinton’s historic Democratic nomination by taking it all the way back to July 4, 1776, i.e. a very, very, very long time ago. As the bit progresses, though, they realize that it takes 240 years for a woman to even be nominated, let alone become the president.
See how Josephine and Abitha react below.
When he told them that the United States finally has its first female presidential nominee from a major party, Jacobson’s character said, “Well, butter my bonnet!”
“I know you guys are busy putting the finishing touches on the Declaration of Independence right now, so I’ll make this quick”, Colbert said.
“What the butter is wrong with all of you people?”. “You hear that Franklin?” calls Whitmoren, “Women are on top, and not just your French whores!”
“Everyone’s gonna do mercury shots”, Glazer said. Glazer asks. Again Colbert takes one for the future.
When they do get upset, they sort of have a point. Colbert suggests that since the Declaration of Independence is still in the works, they could always convene everyone and edit it to say “people” or at least add women.
