Powerball jackpot climbs to $478 million
Jackpot winners can choose between an annuity paid out over 29 years or a cash option. The jackpot for Saturday’s Powerball drawing is now an estimated annuitized $478 million, Arkansas Scholarship Lottery officials announced yesterday. Powerball itself began in April 1992 in 15 states with jackpots that started at a guaranteed $2 million.
“When there is this much excitement for a draw, we want to remind everyone to only play what they can afford, not to go overboard”, said Jeff Anderson, Idaho Lottery Director.
