Latch On event scheduled this weekend

They will surely be among countless Big Latch Ons happening everywhere on Friday and Saturday as part of World Breastfeeding Week, that will functions from August 1-7.

The Big Latch On supports communities with identifying and growing opportunities to provide ongoing breastfeeding support and promotion. A virtual Big Latch On event has been created via the Big Latch On Facebook page (www.facebook.com/biglatchonNZ), which encourages breastfeeding Mums to post breastfeeding selfies with the hashtag #biglatchonNZ.

The Huntsville event will be at Optimist Park (703 Oakwood Avenue) at 10 a.m. this Saturday.

Free to attend. Registration begins at 9:45 am and the Latch On will take place from 10:30 am – 10:31 am, for one minute.

Door prizes will be given, and the first 50 to arrive will receive “swag bags”. The Huntsville event is sponsored by A Nuturing Moment.

The Big Latch On is an event where mothers breastfeed their children around the globe at the same time in an array of settings to celebrate and normalise breastfeeding.

Just over 100 community groups are taking part in the Big Latch On event this year.

A spokeswoman for Women’s Health Action, which hosts the mass event, said Gloriavale was just another community of mothers wanting to participate.
