Kanye West rants about Tidal-Apple ‘beef’
Whichever way you feel you’ll find it hard to get through life without some mention of Kanye West. Kanye West has made it a mission to say some odd things on Twitter from time to time and make his feelings known.
West also used his Twitter power to call for a possible meeting between Apple CEO Tim Cook, Jay Z, Drake, and Apple Music’s Jimmy Iovine.
“We’ll all gon [sic] be dead in 100 years”, West said to his almost 25 million Twitter subscribers. “-ORCRP001070-topic.html” class=”local_link” >Apple beef”, he wrote, referring to Tidal, the streaming service owned by Jay Z, and Apple Music, is messing “up the game”.
Is Kanye insisting that Apple is playing hardball with Tidal?
Hardly a sentiment coming out of left field, rumblings of Apple’s interest in picking up Tidal first bubbled to the surface about a month ago per a report in The Wall Street Journal.
“Apple give Jay his check for Tidal now and stop tying [SIC] to act like you Steve”, he tweeted. “Let the kids have the music”, he urged. However, Tidal’s exclusives do a lot for the service: Beyoncé Knowles’ Tidal-exclusive release of Lemonade in April brought in 1.2 million more trial and paid users. Tidal maybe doesn’t like what Apple is offering up? That includes Jay-Z‘s catalog, as well as that of his megastar wife, Beyonce.
But for now, most artists this year have had to pick and choose a specific music streaming service in order to drop their album.
