‘American Sniper’ Continues to Snipe Others And Dominates At The Domestic Box-Office
‘American Sniper’ grossed more than $200 million at the domestic box-office. Oscar-nominated American Sniper is soon poised to be one of the best war-themed movies, overtaking Steven Spielberg’s WW II cult classic Saving Private Ryan and Michael Bay’s Pearl Harbor.
Clint Eastwood directed movie stars Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller along with Kyle Gallner, Luke Grimes, Sam Jaeger, Cory Hardrict, and Jake McDorman in supporting roles. The movie is based on Chris Kyle’s 2012 memoir: American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History. The film tells the story of late Chris Kyle, who was an American Navy SEAL. He was one of the deadliest snipers in the history of U.S. military. A year later, in February 2013, Chris was shot dead at a Texas gun range by a former marine, who was apparently suffering from PTSD.
Actor Bradley Cooper, 40, who has an Oscar nomination in the best actor category for portraying Chris Kyle, revealed that the war drama American Sniper has been a life-changing experience for him. American Sniper has been criticised by The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee for the threats against Muslims in the US, since its release. The movie is in news not only for its 6 Oscar nominations, record-breaking sales, and Bradley Cooper’s much-acclaimed performance but also for the fake baby scene. The very obvious inanimate doll that is shown as Cooper’s on-screen child with his reel wife, Sienna Miller, has been a subject of joke by critics and moviegoers.
Reportedly, Cooper ate an insane 6,000 calories per day to add bulk to his body for portrayal of Chris Kyle. Meanwhile, Taya Kyle, Chris’ widow expressed her gratitude for the recognition and overwhelming response to her late husband’s story. In the movie, Sienna Miller plays Taya.
