WikiLeaks releases audio from Democratic Party hack
While vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine and President Obama took the stage at the Democratic National Convention Wednesday night, Wikileaks was releasing another batch of hacked DNC files.
In another voicemail, a man who says he is William Eacho, former ambassador to Austria and another Obama donor, returns a call from former DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz seeking more details “about a small dinner with President Obama this week”.
The recordings, along with thousands of emails between DNC staffers, were possibly unearthed by an incursion into the DNC networks by Russian hackers and is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The manager of Sanders’ political campaign, Jeff Weaver, said the emails confirmed “what many of us have known for some time”, that DNC members were “actively helping the Clinton effort and trying to hurt Bernie Sanders’ campaign”.
So far this week in Philadelphia, high-profile DNC speakers have sought to bridge the divide between disillusioned Sanders voters and bullish Clinton supporters – harping on a convention theme “Stronger Together”.
“I’m furious about what you are doing for Bernie Sanders”, said a caller from the 480 area code, which covers Phoenix, Arizona, in a voicemail message. “He’s getting way too much influence”.
“Bernie is the worst person in the world to even be running in the Democratic Party because he’s not a Democrat”, said the unidentified woman, who noted she was on a fixed income and had donated $300 to Clinton. Please don’t give into him.
Most of the voicemail messages were simply leaving names and numbers for a call back, however, some reveal pressure to discredit Bernie Sanders and his supporters by using all means.
