The Boston Red Sox have acquired left-handed reliever Fernando Abad from the Minnesota Twins for minor-league pitcher Pat Light.
TORONTO (AP) – The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired right-hander Scott Feldman from the Houston Astros for minor league pitcher Lupe Chavez.
Two people with knowledge of the trade say the Oakland Athletics have traded right fielder Josh Reddick and left-hander Rich Hill to the Los Angeles Dodgers for a trio of right-handers.
Feldman, 33, is a 12-year-old veteran who appeared in 26 games for the Astros, five of them starts.
Jesse Chavez, acquired in the off-season from the Oakland A’s, has struggled badly out of the Jays’ bullpen this year, posting a 4.57 ERA while allowing almost half of his inherited runners to score.
Chavez, who turns 33 on August 21, made 47 starts and 15 relief appearances with Oakland in 2014-2015, totaling 303 innings in those two seasons. He made his last start on June 28. Bolsinger had a 6.83 ERA in six starts for the Dodgers this season, and was moved to a relief role in Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he had a 3.41 ERA this season in 29 innings, with 34 strikeouts and 10 walks. Twelve of his relief appearances has covered more than one inning. Signed out of Mexico two years ago, he has a 1.69 ERA in six starts in the Gulf Coast rookie league this year. He is optionable without having to clear waivers.
