Dame Helen Mirren Swears On Live Television
When the hosts of Good Morning Britain told her they couldn’t believe her age, she wanted to know why?
She also kinda swore (if you consider the word “pissed” to be a curse worse) when describing a camping trip she went on with Liam Neeson, who was her boyfriend in the ’80s.
Presenters Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway immediately apologised for the gaffe shortly before 8.30am on ITV1, with the former telling her: ‘We can’t say things like that first thing in the morning.’.
But the star said she accepts it as “part and parcel” of her job.
Talking about the trip, the Dame said: ‘I love camping, and I still do. My husband unfortunately doesn’t want to camp. But I went camping with an ex-boyfriend of mine, Liam Neeson.
She explained: “I love camping, and I still do. And we had this little… auto and Liam is 6’4″… his head was sticking out of the vehicle, really.
‘And we camp in this field, not like an official camping site with electricity, loos and showers – just literally a field.
Legendary actress Helen Mirren has caused a melt down on Twitter after she said it “p***ed with rain” on live television. “Sometimes I put my foot in my mouth and I get into trouble and sometimes I don’t, but I refuse to sort of be afraid of it”.
But without missing a beat she did ask, “Why can’t you say that?”
TV presenter Kate was eager to shut down the conversation saying: “Can we have that debate another time, otherwise we’ll get fired”.
Dame Helen Mirren after she was caught swearing. “We’ll get fired. You might be the Queen, but you can’t save us”.
‘The older I get, the more I realise there are no rules really, ultimately, we all have ways of living life and we impose rules upon ourselves all the time.’.
Asked how she felt being questioned on her beauty regime – she is an ambassador for L’Oreal – Dame Helen replied: “It’s boring”.
