Ikeme Gets Zenga As New Coach At Wolves
New Wolves boss Walter Zenga will today unveil his vision for the club after officially starting his new job.
The former Italy worldwide was a shock appointment on Saturday, less than 12 hours after the club announced they had sacked Kenny Jackett.
Italy’s first-choice goalkeeper when they hosted the World Cup in 1990, he spent the majority of his playing career at Inter Milan.
New Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Walter Zenga has said that he is “honoured” to have been given the opportunity to manage the Championship club.
‘Walter is a hugely passionate personality who lives for football and is fiercely determined to succeed in everything that he does.
“We are looking forward to working with him, and supporting him in the shared aim of trying to help Wolves achieve promotion back to the Premier League”.
From a record-breaking 103 point season in League 1, to narrowly missing out on the Championship play-offs down to goal difference, Kenny Jackett had brought some joy to the Molineux.
“He’s shown true professionalism”.
The 56-year-old told the club’s official website: “I am so very proud and honoured to be here”. There are changes with the new owners – it is a new era.
Clarification is set to be given on the make-up of Zenga’s backroom staff – and the role of Monaco assistant technical director Andrea Butti, who has attended both of Wolves’ last two friendlies. Their heyday was in the 1950s when they won the English title three times.
