On CNN, Pat Smith Blasts ‘Dirt’ Treatment From Media Over RNC Speech
Patricia Smith, the mother of an American killed in the September 11, 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, claimed that Hillary Clinton’s leadership “kills people” in a Monday interview with CNN’s Brooke Baldwin.
“What should this election be about?”
“I don’t hold any ill feeling for someone who in that moment may not fully recall everything that was or wasn’t said.” she told Wallace, responding to a speech at the Republican National Convention by Pat Smith, whose son Sean was killed in the attack along with three other Americans.
This past weekend, Trump proceeded to insist he has made “sacrifices,” pointing to his own business success as a prime example, and then attacked Khan’s wife Ghazala for standing silently, despite the fact that she had previously explained her grief over the loss of her son made it hard for her to speak publicly. “Hillary promised she would get back to me and tell me what happened. There was no doubt it was terrorism”, Clinton said. I don’t know why my son is dead. Smith never got an apology from Clinton, but now she’s being asked whether Donald Trump should apologize to the Khan family for his statements on them following their speech at the DNC.
Smith said she is still waiting for answers about decisions Clinton made in the months before the attack. Even here, Baldwin leaves Smith nearly exasperated at times because she can’t quite accept that Smith won’t use her bereaved-mom moral authority to come to the Khans’ defense against Trump.
