Chelsea Clinton softens Hillary’s image, retains her political edge
“I don’t know about you, but I stayed up really late last night”, Clinton told an adorning crowd at Temple University in Philadelphia on Friday.
Hillary Clinton on Thursday accepted the Democratic Party’s White House nomination, casting herself as a tireless champion of the people and rejecting Donald Trump’s dark picture of America.
“He’s offering empty promises”.
She also acknowledge the person that ran a strong race against her, Bernie Sanders, as well as his loud supporters.
Angel Rodriquez, another delegate from California, said there was no clear plan to walk out of Clinton but that when she announced she was the nominee, he could not take it anymore.
Katy Perry is also scheduled to take the stage Thursday evening, and Chelsea Clinton is set to introduce her mother, Hillary. That is the story of America.
“He wants to divide us – from the rest of the world, and from each other. Yes, America’s destiny is ours to choose”.
Her speech came just before a moving video narrated by Morgan Freeman, which featured a bevy of Clinton supporters, including President Obama and 9/11 survivors who spoke of her concern during the attacks.
Clinton referenced another former president, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, saying that he gave Trump the ideal rebuke more than 80 years ago “during a much more perilous time”. “They think he couldn’t possibly mean all the disgusting things he says – like when he called women “pigs”. Several Republican private citizen activists, including one who had closely worked with Ronald Reagan, also addressed the convention, stating that the GOP had abandoned its values and no longer represented their interests. “Instead, we will build an economy where everyone who wants a good paying job can get one”.
Questions about Clinton’s refusal to hold press conferences – which has been frequently criticized by the Democrat’s rivals in the GOP – cropped up when Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for president, raised the issue Wednesday during a press conference of his own. Donald Trump can’t even handle the rough and tumble of a presidential campaign.
Clinton said Trump said at the Republican convention “I alone can fix it”.
“Hillary Clinton’s speech was an insulting collection of clichés and recycled rhetoric”, the Trump campaign’s message starts off.
