Gold Star families to Trump: Apologize for comments to Khans

Obama’s only explicit reference to the Democratic National Convention was to the Gold Star mother he said he asked to introduce him before his prime-time speech.

After receiving a prolonged and thunderous applause during his introduction at the 95th Disabled American Veterans (DAV) convention at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Atlanta, Obama simultaneously renounced Trump and honored Khizr and Ghazala Khan, without mentioning any of them by name.

In interviews following Khan’s speech, Trump made comments that implied Ghazala Khan did not speak at the DNC because of her religion. I work very, very hard.

The North Carolina Republican Party initially mistook the pin for a Honduras flag when it tweeted that it was “shameful” that the candidate was wearing “a Honduras flag pin on his jacket but no American flag”. Republicans, long seen as the more pro-military of the two major parties, delicately tried to distance themselves from Trump’s words, but not his candidacy. Claiming that he’s made “a lot of sacrifices”, Trump showed his ignorance not only toward Islam, but toward the sacrifices made by members of the United States armed forces.

“In the face of Russian aggression, we’re not going to turn our back to our allies in Europe”, he said, a day after Trump suggested he would recognize the Russian occupation of Crimea, which the United States considers to be part of Ukraine.

Trump did not immediately respond to Monday’s letter.

“There are certain sacrosanct subjects that no amount of wordsmithing can fix once crossed”, Duffy declared.

A blue star signifies a relative serving in the military while a gold star means a family member has died in service.

VFW Department of New Jersey State Commander Conrad Hoffman said, “He says things that are derogatory and it’s very bad, and it shouldn’t be done. We vote for the person who is on the side of the veterans”, he said of the group.
