National Basteball Association Trade Updates: Point Guard Ty Lawson Heads To Houston Rockets
Even in the continuously, blithely, unconscionably oblivious National Football League, four DUIs would be as red as a flag can get. Lawson has never been the leader of a team, but this is not exactly a failure. Nevertheless, the Rockets have had a strong interest with him and were willing to take the risk of working to get Lawson the assistance he needs to become a top-level National Basteball Association point guard again. Both sides need to feel like they’ve gotten better.
Just unbelievable to pull this off. It wouldn’t have been possible without Lawson’s value plummeting, and the root cause there gives obvious concern. The addition of Lawson coupled with the previous signing of Marcus Thornton would make it seem like a Jason Terry reunion is unlikely – but that may not be the case. He’ll be an interesting player to watch from afar in standard formats. It happens to everyone, sometimes gracefully, and sometimes with agonizing anti-grace. Patrick Beverly, who was incidentally re-signed to a new pact, was out of commission due to injury. Lawson is something different. The Nuggets front office likely wanted Lawson out, and weren’t too concerned with the assets they received in return. He is also a player who is another bad choice or so away from being out of the National Basteball Association. Prosecutors now are asking a judge to require him to use a device, such as an ankle bracelet or a home breath tester, that monitors the body for alcohol. The Pelicans added Alvin Gentry, and are hoping that a healthy Jrue Holiday is able to help stabilize the offense as they unleash holy hell through Anthony Davis.
Denver, on the other hand, just wanted to move on. It’s going to be quite an art to project his numbers with only 12 games in China to go off of after his high school career. He was arrested on the same charge in Denver in January. Given Lawson’s off-the-court problems, recent decline in play and contract, Blake’s the better option anyway.
