Enthusiastic Dez Bryant back on field at camp with Cowboys after off-season
I speak for all Dallas Cowboys fans when I say, I hope the Dallas Cowboys can have a healthy Training camp and everything can go smoothly, for every player.
“It’s just hard to come back and repeat, win the division, and playoff games without having a strong nucleolus”, Romo said. Last year he led the NFL with 16 touchdown receptions.
Fellow receiver Cole Beasley sees the same teammate.
“It’s no pressure, man”, Bryant said after the Cowboys finished their first day of training camp practice. “I think I was just happy to see him”.
The cheerleader that catches the pass doesn’t have Dez’s arm extension quite right, and obviously doesn’t go up and snatch the ball at quite as high a point as Dez actually did during the game, but otherwise does an admirable No. 88 impression (if we ignore the fact that she moves the ball into her right hand while going to the ground rather than the left), and her “Throw Up the X” form is top-notch. But he stressed they don’t want to push him to the point where the back becomes agitated and sore.
Following the Dallas Cowboys first walk-through of Training Camp Thursday morning, all eyes were on Tony Romo as the quarterback addressed the media. It was the first time Bryant had spoken to the media since signing his new contract July 15.
The lengthy negotiations going back to last November fueled speculation that the Cowboys were still anxious about off-the-field issues that plagued Bryant in his first two years in the NFL.
“I actually think if that was I’ll say my second year in the league, I think it would have been mad, it would have been terrible, ” Bryant said.
“I’ve been able to build strength and a base that’s going to hopefully be able to withstand some things that don’t always go your way, ” Romo said.
“We think we have a pretty good bead on how to handle it. I would expect it to go pretty smooth”.
“You’ve seen Dez as an older, more mature Dez”, Romo said. “He’s come a long way since he first stepped on the field here, and I think it’s exciting to see his growth as a player, as a person”.
The presence of last season’s NFL leader in touchdowns receiving erases a major distraction for a team trying to defend a NFC East title and make a Super Bowl run.
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant (88) makes a reception as he warms up during the team’s NFL training camp, Thursday, July 30, 2015, in Oxnard, Calif.
“I wasn’t really too anxious, ” said Beasley, who also signed a long-term deal this offseason.
“The number one thing I wanted to do my entire career, more than anything else, was just improve”. They don’t want to overwork him early.
There were plenty of smiles to prove it in California.
