Pope: It’s ‘terrible’ children taught they can choose gender
Pope Francis laments that schools teach children gender can be a choice.
Francis told the Polish bishops: “Today, children are taught this at school: that everyone can choose their own sex”. They can not celebrate Mass but they are allowed to preach and teach in the name of the Church and to baptize and conduct wake and funeral services. The pope went on to blame the so-called teachings on textbooks supplied by people and institutions who donate money, though he didn’t name them.
“Today is a day of tears”, Pope Francis said Friday, October 4, 2013, as he spoke of a shipwreck off the tiny Italian island of Lampedusa a day earlier, in which at least 111 people died.
Further expounding on why gender-identity discussions are harmful, he stated, “God created man and woman; God created the world in a certain way … and we are doing the exact opposite”.
If Francis’s first three years are Bishop of Rome are any indication, Zagano’s hopes might very well be answered.
A press release from Faith in America calls this view, “incredibly naïve”.
“Our nation just witnessed the single deadliest mass shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, specifically targeting the LGBT community, and what we need now is for our world leaders to spread messages of tolerance and acceptance”, Louie said. “Francis also ignores the reality of intersex individuals in his complementary lens”.
Pope Francis is getting criticism for speaking out against the idea that gender can be chosen.
The BHA appeared to link the Pope’s Biblical beliefs with reports of child abuse, saying: “Obviously the Catholic Church has form when it comes to denying 1) children’s accounts of their experiences and 2) scientific consensus”. And finally DignityUSA, “a leading organization of LGBT Catholics”.
Francis has spoken out against gender theory on a number of occasions, and in April 2015 said that it is wrong to ignore or diminish the differences between men and women in society. “The true custody of creation does not have anything to do with the ideologies that consider man like an accident, like a problem to eliminate”.
