Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate Tim Kaine Speaks In Milwaukee
Kaine’s visit comes on the same day that Trump is scheduled to make a campaign stop in the state as well, with a rally planned with supporters in Green Bay later this evening.
While Wisconsin’s highest-ranking Republican office-holders were skipping the Trump rally, Democratic U.S. Sen.
“I thought they said campaigning was tough”, Kaine quipped before delving into the meat of his speech.
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, Congresswoman Gwen Moore, and Senator Tammy Baldwin all spoke ahead of Kaine.
Kaine is now speaking at the Lakefront.
On the Republican side, Kaine argued Trump has offered very little outside of promises and no real clear plans.
Hillary Clinton running mate Tim Kaine visited a Milwaukee brewery Friday to make a case for Clinton’s economic plan.
He cited Lakefront as an example of a small business that would benefit with Clinton as president but not if Trump were elected.
Kaine on Friday hailed last week’s ruling striking down as unconstitutional number of limitations on early voting locations, hours and elements of Wisconsin’s photo identification requirement.
“He gives you the punch line, everybody’s going to be rich, but when you ask him how he just says believe me”.
“They’re [the NRA] trying to cotton up to the gun manufactures – they don’t even represent their members anymore on this”, Kaine said. Republican Attorney General Brad Schimel, a vocal Trump supporter, has vowed to appeal so the changes won’t take effect for the November 8 election.
Kaine also praises a recent, federal court decision in Wisconsin on the state’s voting laws.
