State officials were at a Beaver Dam home on Saturday morning investigating a death. Due to nature of the incident and the potential unsafe situation we requested assistance from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office. “I think it is important for the public to understand what suicide by cop actually means”. Negotiations were initiated early in the incident and continued with the hope of resolving the situation peacefully.
The suspect was killed during the exchange. The deputy, who has nine years on the job, returned fire.
Neither the suspect or the deputy have been identified.
