Partick ‘Wall Collapse’ Sees Emergency Services Cordon Off Glasgow Street
Dozens of emergency services are at the scene in Benalder Street, just off Dumbarton Road.
The wall, which forms the top section of the back court wall for the tenement block on the corner of Dumbarton Road and Benalder Street, collapsed at around 12pm today.
Local media have suggested an “explosion” in an Italian restaurant caused the collapse, however this has not been confirmed.
There are no official reports of any injuries but there are unofficial rumours of one person requiring treatment at the scene.
One onlooker told The Herald said he heard a woman screaming as she was inside a vehicle when it was struck by falling debris.
“I looked outside the kitchen window and there was this cloud of dust”, he said.
There are fears more are injured.
‘Road closures and diversions in place’. “We immediately thought that the wall of the terrace must have fallen”.
Witnesses told how they saw a woman apparently being treated for shock by paramedics nearby.
